CREAM, ANYONE? DOXIE ROCK STARS

 Cream, anyone?

People are fascinated by the English cream variety of dachshund. They are truly beautiful, elegant-looking dogs! They’re often called the rock stars of the dog world, because they turn heads wherever they go.

I did some research on this gorgeous doxie ~ very interesting info:

“Here are some ways to figure out if the dog you are eyeing is a true English cream dachshund:

•English cream dachshunds are born black and only lighten over time. Some shading may remain on their coat but this is expected from this pup. Clear creams are an exception to this because they are born with a very light coat.

•They only come in the long-haired variety. If the parent breeds were also able to produce short-haired or wire-haired pups, ditch the breeder you are talking with.

•Their coat color is very light and it has a yellow undertone comparable to an eggshell’s color.

•Their light cream color doesn’t change throughout their life. They don’t darken or manifest a reddish undertone like the American creams.

•The nose and nails of English creams are black and their eyes are dark brown.

They only come in miniature sizes.”

A DOXIE'S TAKE ON COVID

Doxie lovers,

Humans are really acting weird, and have been for about a year now. Mom and Dad have just started back to work, and my human siblings only go to school now and then. What gives?

Everybody has been really grumpy. I was happy they were all home with me at first, because I was sure to get lots of attention and treats. And I did--for awhile. My siblings played with me, did endless hours of fetch, and "almost" got annoying. For a doxie to say that, you gotta believe it was bad!

But there have been some downsides to all of this covid stuff. I understand it's something kinda like the
flu, but much worse. And my humans are supposed to get some kind of shot that will keep them from getting covid. I sincerely hope I don't have to get it, because I've gotten enough shots at the vet already, and I don't like them at all!

I often catch my humans just sitting by the window, looking out. I do that a lot, but humans don't, usually. I'll go up to him or her and offer them a doggie kiss, which usually causes them to smile and rub my ears, then they go back to staring out the window. They somehow seem sad to me, but I don't know how to make them feel better if a doggie kiss doesn't do the trick.

I hear that things will be getting better real soon, and I sure hope so. I want my humans back like they used to be.

OH, THAT DOXIE FACE!

There's never a dull moment around a dachshund. If they're quiet, you wonder what they're up to; if they're barking, you wonder if it's about a piece of dust in the air or a deer in the yard! They're just unique, that's all. We wouldn't have them any other way, would we?

CHASIN' THAT TAIL

Image may contain: text

It's so cute when little puppies notice their tails and try to get them. Same thing when human babies notice their feet and try to get them, too. Babies--whether two footed or four footed, are generally cute to me. Do you agree?

Here are a couple of adorable puppies to prove my point:

OH, I BET YOU WOULD!

Doxie lovers who own one doxie or multiple doxies all tell me the same thing: when they try to eat, their doxies are right there in their faces, wanting some of their food! That's a doxie for ya: chow hounds extraordinaire!

I suppose if our noses could smell food 4,000 times better than we can now, we'd be "food fiends," too! Think how great food smells when you're hungry--now multiply that smell 4,000 times. Oh my growlin' tummy!

Dachshunds . . . you gotta love 'em, noses and all.

Happy Monday, doxie lovers!

FEATURING: RED DACHSHUNDS!

I recently featured longhaired doxies and received such an outpouring of positive feedback that I've decided to make it a regular feature (that is, until I run out of doxie coat types!).

Today, I'm featuring the beautiful red, smooth coat dachshunds. I suppose I chose this one because my granddawg Sunny "are" one, and like most redheads, she's a feisty one. We wouldn't have her any other way, though. My very first doxie was also a red when I was nine.

Without further ado, here is today's gallery of beautiful reds for your viewing pleasure. If you have a red smooth coat doxie, I invite you to share a photo in the comments below. We'd all love to see your baby!

And last, but certainly not least:

Dachshunds . . . you gotta love 'em, no matter what color/coat they have!
