SUN DRESS FUR BABY!

I don't know about you, but this cute doxie in the sun dress ROCKS!  She looks as though she's supposed to be wearing it, too.

What do you think? Do you dress up your doxie? Our Duke won't tolerate anything other than his collar--but I love to see cute doxies in cute outfits.

DACHSHUNDS, THE SUN WORSHIPPERS

What is it about doxies and sunshine? If inside the house, they'll find some sunshine to lie in. They never miss an opportunity to be sunbathers. Duke likes the sun as well, although he'd much rather be busy smelling around the yard in order to chase squirrels, cats, or what have you.

Is your doxie a sunbather? Here are some additional cute photos of doxie sun worshippers:

YAWNING: DACHSHUNDS HAVE IT DOWN!

I smile every time I see my doxie Duke yawn--like most doxies, he gives it all he's got, and with that curled-up tongue, it makes for a good laugh. And a doxie yawn is cute, too--don't you think so?

Here are some of my favorite doxie yawns:

MY DOXIE GRANDDAWG SHADOW: NOT A MORNING DAWG

Our daughter who owns Shadow our granddawg posted this photo on Facebook early this morning, so I had to share it with you! The caption read "Shadow doesn't want to get up this morning." Isn't that 100% doxie?

Duke is not a morning dawg, either; in fact, he stays under a blanket until afternoon. Oh, he'll crawl out when we eat something, he hears a loud noise outside, or he suspects the mailman is making his rounds.

This trait is not confined to Shadow and Duke by any means. I quickly found other doxie photos that confirm my post:

Perhaps there is something to that old adage: "Let sleeping dogs lie."  Certainly, they don't get into trouble or mischief while sleeping.

A DACHSHUND'S HELP . . . KINDA!

Ah, yes . . . behold the dachshund, aka chow hound extraordinaire! I also put this meme on my Facebook business page, Mavis Duke Hinton's Books, and asked other doxie parents if they thought this statement were true.

Overwhelmingly, they replied that their doxie/doxies are shameless, not remorseful, beggars, etc., when it comes to human food. I know that Duke definitely is!

Chow hounds--er, dachshunds . . . you gotta love 'em!

"Mama, get in the kitchen and cook!"
(Really, that's what Duke was telling me)

FRIDAY HAPPINESS!

Everyone loves Fridays. I do, even though I'm retired. It's hard to get out of the habit of looking forward to Fridays and weekends, so I won't even try. Besides, Saturdays are still a lot of fun even when one does not work outside the home. I try not to do any writing on weekends so that my hubby and I can do something special together, like attend our granddaughters' basketball games and spend time with the family--unless I'm near the final edits of my work in progress.

Fridays . . . you gotta love 'em.
