My granddawg Sunny is the typical doxie: in this photo,
she's begging for a bite of my sandwich!

Happy July 1, doxie lovers!

UNDIVIDED ATTENTION

Image may contain: dog

For those who haven't been following this blog, the photo above is of my two granddawgs, Sunny the doxie (3 mo. old) and Bruno the boxer (three years old).

Our daughter happened to be eating something while sitting on the couch, and this was her view when she looked up!

CHOW HOUNDS EXTRAORDINAIRE!

This meme is the perfect philosophy of our beloved dachshunds, right? My doxie Duke is always right there when I'm preparing food for us, because he wants to make sure he gets in on the action!

Dachshunds . . . you gotta love 'em!

P.S. Remember, I AM SARGE, Book 1 of THE DACHSHUND ESCAPADES, is currently only 99 cents in the Kindle Store. Grab your copy here:

BEGGING DACHSHUNDS

"Daddy, will you play with me
PULEEZE??"

"You aren't gonna eat all that yourself, are you?"

My doxie Duke: "Daddy, you know you don't
want to eat all that by yourself!"

Dachshunds . . . you gotta love 'em, chow hounds all.

A DACHSHUND'S HELP . . . KINDA!

Ah, yes . . . behold the dachshund, aka chow hound extraordinaire! I also put this meme on my Facebook business page, Mavis Duke Hinton's Books, and asked other doxie parents if they thought this statement were true.

Overwhelmingly, they replied that their doxie/doxies are shameless, not remorseful, beggars, etc., when it comes to human food. I know that Duke definitely is!

Chow hounds--er, dachshunds . . . you gotta love 'em!

"Mama, get in the kitchen and cook!"
(Really, that's what Duke was telling me)

PASTA, ANYONE??

This doxie is obviously just like our Duke--he'd walk a mile to get hold of some pasta!  Such is the life of a chow hound extraordinaire.

When we have spaghetti at home, I always set a side a small bowl of plain pasta--equal to a few tablespoons--just for him, and feed it to him one strand at a time.  Otherwise, he'd gulp down the entire serving in a couple of bites.

Shadow, our granddawg doxie, is thrilled over pasta, too. I really don't understand why they love it so much, since it doesn't have much of a smell (a big deal to dachshunds), and by comparison to other people food, probably doesn't have that much of a flavor, either.

What about your doxie?

BUT OF COURSE!

Except maybe reach high stuff . . . but my doxie Duke once managed to jump high enough snatch a piece of toast off the kitchen counter, no mean feat for his short legs!

Of course, that's the reason doxies have earned the title "chow hounds extraordinaire."  When food is involved, they'll go to any length (no pun intended) to get to it!

GOBBLE GOBBLE!

Here's wishing you a blessed and fabulous Thanksgiving tomorrow with your loved ones.  Since dachshunds are "chow hounds extraordinaire" and don't make very good digestive decisions, it's up to us to keep them from harm:

Don't give them raisins, grapes, chocolate in any form, turkey skin, cooked bones, cranberries, bread, nuts, onions and garlic--and I'm sure there are things I've left out.  They'll beg, so a few bites of just turkey meat won't hurt.

Gobble gobble!
