GRANDDAWGS AND SUCH

First of all, here's an update on our little doxie granddawg: she's walking, is very alert, and her owner says she's kinda bossy. Well, she'll fit right in with the females in this family, ha ha. Our daughter and family have thought of a cute name for her, but it's not for me to reveal it at this time. Without further ado, here she is:

"Can we take this off yet?"

"Sorry--I don't know how to smile yet"

Our other granddawg Bruno the boxer is the only dog in the house now since Shadow passed in February. Oh, he has three cats to keep him company, but they aren't very keen on him, so they keep to the back of the house. Here he is below relaxing on the floor. I think one of the grandchildren gave him the pillow for his head and the coverlet. In any case, he well taken care of!

My doxie Duke has graduated from the playpen to a dog crate as of yesterday following his back surgery on April 1. He's not sure he likes it yet. Oh, when he's tired at night, he'll go in it, but if I'm busy and can't watch him (we are careful that he doesn't try to jump up on the couch or other furniture), into the crate he goes. Oh, he'll get used to it. One bonus is that he can go into it himself and we don't have to lift him up going in or out of it like the playpen. Will keep you posted on this important issue.

Duke also had his first bath today after his surgery. I would wipe him down often, but didn't actually place him in water. He was not a happy camper, but he tolerated it. Afterwards, he did have a small zoomie, but not like before his surgery.

Dachshunds . . . you gotta love 'em.
