Sixty pounds of pressure is about all the average human can exert while biting. Dachshunds can bite down with the tremendous force of more than 350 pounds! Ouch!!
I’d rather they use that force on a toy, wouldn’t you?? In the heat of playing, doxies sometimes forget and chomp down. Our Duke was a fanatic for “a hand under his blankie” ~ if “it” would try to bite him, he’d definitely reciprocate, lol. But he never bit any of us on purpose.

Doxies are, let’s say, singleminded. Their breeding is somewhat at fault: as badger hunters underground facing their foe, they had to concentrate one one thing: survival.
Sooooo, today when your doxie is focused on that food on your unattended plate—you may be shouting NO at the top of your lungs from the kitchen, but . . . well, you know how this ends. He sees it, he wants it, and it’s there for the taking. So he independently makes his move.
It’s his breeding, and a constant uphill battle for these independent thinking, determined little warriors.
Aren’t we glad they aren’t the size of a Saint Bernard?

Happy Monday! Anything new going on in your neck of the woods? It is finally getting cooler here, thank goodness—I actually feel better in cooler temps than I do when it’s so hot and humid!! Our daughter (Granddawg Sunny’s mom), however, doesn’t care how hot and humid it gets—she loves it, but hates cold weather. Vive la difference!
