“There’s nothing cuter than a speckled pup,” an old saying that still rings true, so today we’re featuring dapples and piebalds, along with some important info about this coat pattern. Enjoy!
“PIEBALD doxies are often confused with double dapples. Piebalds will never have blue eyes, one blue eye or any blue tick in the eye. They only have brown eyes. They will also have a solid colored head (with or without a white blaze) and have symetrical markings on the head.
“A DAPPLE dachshund has a distinct dapple pattern on its fur, the result of a genetic mutation. The coat can vary and may include shades such as chocolate, chocolate and tan, cream, black and cream, black and tan, piebald, red, silver, and blue.
“Note: There are serious health risks associated with breeding two DAPPLES together, as DD puppies may have varying degrees of vision and hearing loss, including missing eyes or micro eyes.”
