Doxie puppies, as most puppies, are wound up pretty tightly, meaning they have inexhaustible energy. They go nonstop, then suddenly “hit the wall” and must nap. Plus, they want to bite and chew on everything, including you—and man, those teeth are sharp! They cannot discern between what is appropriate to chew and what is not.
Then there’s the house breaking issue. Doxies are notoriously difficult to outran, although our doxie Duke was fully trained at four months, a miracle for a male doxie, I’ve been told.
In any case, doxie puppies eventually slow down, grow, and I still think they are wonderful companions. Dachshunds . . . you gotta love ‘em!
