WHAT’S NOT TO LOVE?

When it comes to doxies (and most dogs in general), I love everything about them. Of course, I know that doxies have their own special traits, but I love all of them, even those traits that are considered negative.

Excessive barking:
As Duke so aptly stated in THE DACHSHUND ESCAPADES after his human mama scolded him for being so loud: “Isn’t that the point of barking—to be heard??”

Stubbornness:
This trait is especially notable in the difficulty of housebreaking. In my personal experience, dogged (no pun intended) consistency is the key. It took four months for Duke to “get it.” We got him at age eight weeks, and I took him out every hour and several times at night. Yes, sometimes as soon as we came back in, he’s go right in the rug! But once he understood, he never had an accident again unless he was sick. He lived to age ten.

I’m sure there are other negative traits—but I can only think of all their wonderful, lovable ones:
Unconditional love
Intelligence
Fun living
Playful
Sense of humor
Joy of living
Cuddle bug
And much more!

Have a great weekend, doxie lovers!!
