HONORING THOSE WHO SERVED: HAPPY VETERANS DAY
To all who served and are now serving, we honor you and thank you for your service to our country! We have a number of veterans in our family: my late father (Army - WWII), my husband Clark (Army - Vietnam), Clark's brother (Navy), our nephew (Air Force).
God bless you, and God bless America.

TURKEYS AND DACHSHUNDS
This doxie has hit the jackpot on Thanksgiving, apparently. That's a mighty big chunk of meat for a small dog, but he'll manage, I'm sure.
Or how about these "helpers" in the kitchen? Dachshunds are chow hounds extraordinaire, and we doxie lovers/owners know it!
Dachshunds . . . you gotta love 'em.

HAPPY DOXIE THANKSGIVING
"Okay, Mom--you succeeded in making me look ridiculous again!" |
With Thanksgiving just around the corner, I enjoy finding photos of doxies dressed up for Thanksgiving. Duke won't cooperate, so I have to look elsewhere!
What are some of your favorite family traditions for Thanksgiving? In our family, we cherish us all being together, because it doesn't happen as often as we'd like. Christmas 2015 was the last time we were all in one place, so we especially look forward to this Thanksgiving. Both daughters and their families will be here in our home.
Holly, Bethany, and I work together to cook Thanskgiving dinner--we each choose the dishes we want to cook, and away we go! I usually put the turkey in the oven early that day, and prepare the dressing, gravy, and sweet potato casserole. Bethany presides over the fried okra (her favorite), and several other vegetable dishes, as well as sometimes making pecan pies. Holly makes the mashed potatoes, rolls, green bean casserole, makes sure we have plenty of cranberry sauce, and a banana pudding (a must here in the South). Our menu varies somewhat from year to year, but the staples are always present. I also plan to make sugar free brownies this year as well. They are really good!
The Thanksgiving meal is my favorite--all those flavors blend together well and are delicious. You can't get any more American than Thanksgiving!
