CHRISTMAS DOXIE #8
Anyone for a cute and adorable doxie puppy?
Here ya go!
Only six more days until Christmas! May you and yours have a fabulous Christmas - I'll post sporadically over the next two weeks, since we'll have a houseful of family during that time. But I'll be thinking about you, doxie lovers.

CHRISTMAS DOXIE #7: A PUPPY!
Few gifts are more exciting to doxie lovers than a little doxie puppy! We adopted Duke in August eight years ago, but it was equally exciting then, too.
Some things to keep in mind with a new puppy:
Merry Christmas, doxie lovers!

CHRISTMAS DOXIE #6 - ONLY 11 MORE DAYS!
Most everything is ready in our home for this most important holiday to Christians--the house is decorated, inside and out, the presents are bought and wrapped, the menu is finalized, plane tickets have been purchased (our daughter and hubby are arriving Christmas Eve), church Christmas specials have been attended, and WE ARE EXCITED about the holidays!
Oh--and our wedding anniversary is on Dec. 20. Clark and I will probably just opt for dinner at a nice restaurant. It's too close to Christmas to even think about going anywhere overnight! We didn't think about that 45 years ago, because he had just returned from a year's deployment to Vietnam and we wanted to get married before Christmas! I wouldn't change a thing.
Doxie lovers, may you and yours have a blessed and enjoyable holiday season. Dachshunds--ya gotta love 'em.

CHRISTMAS DOXIE #3: WIENER WONDERLAND
WIENER WONDERLAND
Dog tags ring, are you listenin’?
In the lane, snow is glistenin’
It's yellow, not white,
l've been there tonight,
Marking up my wiener wonderland.
Smell that tree?
That’s my fragrance.
It’s a sign for wand’ring vagrants
Avoid where I pee, it’s my property!
Marked up as my wiener wonderland.
In the meadow Dad will build a snowman,
Following the classical design.
Then I’ll lift my leg and let it go man,
So all the world will know that it is mine, mine, mine!
Straight from me to the fencepost,
Flows my natural incense boast.
‘Stay off of my turf, this small piece of earth,
I mark it as my Wiener Wonderland!

DOXIE PUPPIES, BABIES, AND CHRISTMAS SHOPPING
Babies and puppies just go together nicely--especially babies and DOXIE puppies!
This adorable photo of both sleeping and wearing Santa hats was too sweet to resist, so this is my
Christmas photo of the day for my doxie-loving friends. I'll include a Christmas photo every time I post during the month of December.
Do you have your Christmas shopping completed? I have done nearly all of it, and have already wrapped the gifts! Oh, I know people who shop the after-Christmas sales for NEXT YEAR'S CHRISTMAS--I'm not one of them. Before we were retired teachers, my husband Clark and I were very busy during the month of December: all the school programs, preparing for and administering semester exams, grading exams and averaging grades, etc. Also, both of our daughters were involved in programs at school and at church, as well as playing sports, so there wasn't much time left over for decorating until Christmas break, let alone shopping for Christmas!
I made it easy on myself this year: I ordered everything online, and I cannot begin to do justice to the joys of doing so! There are several reasons why shopping online is such a stress-free way to shop:
(1) you can shop any time of day or night, dressed to the hilt or in PJs;
(2) it's so easy to find what you want without having to go to several stores (have you ever noticed that if you are shopping for something specific--item, size, color--stores never have it??);
(3) many sites offer free shipping, and you don't have to burn up gas or hunt for a parking space;
(4) weather doesn't affect your shopping, unless a big snowstorm slows down the trucks bringing your purchases;
(5) it's fun! Our daughter gave us a list for each of our grandchildren, complete with the links to those items--all I had to do was click on the links, and presto--buy the gifts.
A word of caution:
(1) please do not use a debit card when purchasing online. Banks and stores say those are easy targets for misuse. Credit cards are more protected;
(2) shop only on sites that are vetted or have a stellar track record. Fly-by-night websites abound around the Christmas season, so be careful.
Enjoy your Christmas shopping, and have a great weekend, doxie lovers!

CHRISTMAS AT OUR HOME
For those who know me, I love everything about Christmas! So, for the past few days, I've been jazzing up our home for the holidays. Boy, the old gray mare, she ain't what she used to be . . . last night, I felt like I had been out working a construction job!
Our daughter and son-in-law will be with us from AZ, and of course our other daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren will be with us from northern GA.
Here are photos of my handiwork:
Breakfast nook: table was an antique from my parents |
Dining table: my mom made the tablecloth and napkins for me years ago |
Even our grandfather has gotten the Christmas spirit! |
The wall beside the oven |
Dining room light |
Lighted Christmas village |
Our tree |
"The stockings were hung on the fireplace with care . . ." |
Our lighted Christmas doxies |
CHRISTmas without Christ is just another day
