We have lived in Georgia since 2013, so our bodies have acclimated to warmer weather. Therefore, temps in the 30s seem really cold.
I lived in central Alaska for nearly four years when I was in high school. We often saw temps WAY below zero: -30, -40, even -76°! We were on an Army post and walked to school, which was about three blocks away. But at -30 or more with wind constantly blowing, THAT was cold. When it hit -40°, the Army sent their buses around to pick us up and take us to school.
It doesn’t get that cold there now, but if you’re in doubt about those temps, google “Alaska winter temperatures in the early 1960s in Fairbanks.” Believe me, I had frostbite!
Happy Thursday, FURiends, and stay warm!
